Journal of NACAA: Call for Papers

Dear NACAA Colleague -

September 15 th is the submission deadline for articles to be published in the December 1 st issue of the Journal of NACAA – a peer-reviewed publication. With the new online platform, you will submit your paper as a Word file. You will find current author guidelines and tips here https://www.nacaa.com/journal-application .

This is an opportunity for you to share your important work with your colleagues and build your c.v. for tenure and promotion. The Journal of NACAA considers diverse topics including applied research, case studies, scholarly reviews of the literature, examples of outstanding Extension programming, and innovative ideas. You can include your non-NACAA community partners as co-authors; this is a great way to introduce them to NACAA.

**If you are interested in being a peer-reviewer for the Journal of NACAA , please let me know. The quality of the journal depends on a robust peer-review process.**

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Linda

NACAA AM/PIC Registration Now Open

PLEASE READ THIS BLOG  –  The Process has changed a bit.

Early bird registration is April 1 – May 15, 2022.

May 16 – July 1: Registration fees increase $100/person

July 2   – Online registration will be discontinued, and all registrations will take place on-site at the Palm Beach Convention Center.

Due to credit card security issues over the internet – we have had to modify our AM/PIC registration process by having the Hotel Reservation and AM/PIC Registration – as two separate functions

Requesting a Room:   For those of you who need to reserve a hotel room thru NACAA (we handle making the reservation for you as the hotels won’t accept direct reservations) – you will need to make your lodging request at: https://okzyhxiuzf.formstack.com/forms/2022nacaalodging

Once you submit your request – you will receive an email hotel code that you will need to copy/paste into the main registration found at: https://okzyhxiuzf.formstack.com/forms/2022nacaaampic

If you are an Active/Life/Spouse/Guest/Sons & Daughters and your name will be listed on someone else’s room with the same arrival/departures….YOU DO NOT NEED TO MAKE A SEPARATE reservation You may proceed directly to the main registration at:    https://okzyhxiuzf.formstack.com/forms/2022nacaaampic

If you are sharing a room with another member and have different arrival/departure dates than your roommate – go ahead and enter a separate reservation and we will merge the two together before submitting to the hotel.

FACILITIES FEE: For those of you who haven’t attended an AM/PIC before or are unaware of our Facilities Fee policy – ALL ACTIVE & LIFE MEMBERS must stay in one of the 2 contracted hotels (for a minimum of 1 night), or there is a $250 facilities fee for staying offsite.  NACAA has contracted for these hotel rooms and is financially obligated to fill our blocks, or we have to pay for the rooms – if they remain unsold.  THERE IS NO FACILITIES FEE…IF YOU STAY AT ONE OF 2 CONTRACTED HOTELS.

The two sites once again are: (both of these links are also on the homepage at www.nacaa.com – just scroll down below the homepage video clip until you see the Upcoming Events section – and underneath the Florida AM/PIC logo – you will find the direct links.

Lodging Request: https://okzyhxiuzf.formstack.com/forms/2022nacaalodging

April Edition of “The County Agent” magazine is On It’s Way!

For those of you who have requested a hard copy (printed) version of the magazine – it is at the printers and should be mailed shortly.  Production of this edition is delayed due to supply chain issues.  In the meantime – a copy of the magazine can be found online at:  https://www.nacaa.com/uploads/userfiles/files/April%202022%20County%20Agent%20Final.pdf

Promotion & Tenure Reviewers

"Help Early Career Agents by Being a Promotion and Tenure Reviewer"
by Danny Lauderdale, Early Career Development Committee National Chair

The new NACAA website launched on December 1, 2021. I hope that everyone has been able to login to the new site and update your profile. One of the new features in the profile is to indicate interest in being a Promotion and Tenure Reviewer since some states require out-of-state reviewers. As I write this there are 54 promotion reviewers and 32 tenure reviewers.

The Early Career Development Committee encourages all members to consider helping out other Agents that need a reviewer for promotion or tenure. When you login to the NACAA website you land on your 'MEMBER DASHBOARD" page. The first box on the upper left of the page under your welcome message is "EDIT MY PROFILE" (direct link is:  https://www.nacaa.com/edit-profile). Click that and scroll to the bottom of the page under "ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS" and check "Promotion", "Tenure" or both under the question "Are you interested in being a Promotion and Tenure Reviewer?". Below that indicate your rank by using the drop-down menu to help those looking for reviewers choose those with a rank above their current rank.

For those looking for promotion or tenure reviewers, "MEMBER SEARCH" (direct link is: https://www.nacaa.com/member-search) is below "EDIT MY PROFILE" on your "MEMBER DASHBOARD" page. After clicking on that, scroll down and check "Only show Promotion Reviewers" or "Only show Tenure Reviewers" then click on "SEARCH" to get a list.

If anyone has questions or suggestions related to Early Career Development, please reach out to the Early Career Development Committee. You can feind committee contact info at:  NACAA | Committees

We encourage you to take this and any other opportunity to help out an Early Career Agent.
